First Meeting
#

The first meeting with new students is a very important moment. Don’t be late or even cancel it. If students do, it’s okay, but make sure you don’t. At the first meeting, we need to evaluate the students’ abilities. Are they at the appropriate level, more advanced, or behind. A simple test such as asking them to write words or sentences in English for 5 minutes can be an effective way to assess their abilities. If they prefer to write words, they are likely still at the beginner stage. Conversely, if they write sentences, we can evaluate them in terms of grammar.

Progress and Progress
#

At each subsequent meeting, it is important to observe the students’ progress. Are they quick to understand the material, a bit slow, or very late. Patience is key, especially for students who take longer to understand the material. Your patience will pay off sweetly.

Building Closeness
#

Creating closeness or ‘chemistry’ with students is very important. If this is created, it will be easier to provide the understanding and learning needed for student development. The first and foremost is to gain the trust of students and their parents. Be your true self and show your sincere intention. Teaching is not just for money, but for devotion to make better human beings globally.

Mastering the Material
#

Mastering the material being taught is very important. When you come, make sure you know what material needs to be delivered and mastered by the student. This can include vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, speaking, TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC.

Other Tips and Advice
#

Mastering the teaching material, building closeness with students, and being patient are the keys to success as a private English tutor. Use trusted sources and always be ready with teaching materials that suit the needs of the students. Also, make sure to always be careful with the sources used so that they are safe and in accordance with our culture. With these tips, it is hoped that you can become a successful private tutor and be able to help students achieve their goals in learning English.
